Acknowledgement of Country

We respectfully acknowledge that Edgewater Primary School is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our respects to Whadjuk ancestors, and to their elders, past and present.

This part of Whadjuk country falls within the lands of the Mooro Clan, which was led by the great Whadjuk leader, Yellagonga. This area, including Lake Joondalup, is of deep cultural significance to Whadjuk people, and we respect their ancient and continuing spiritual relationship with these lands and waters.

We also extend our respect to Whadjuk families and staff within our school, and to the other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families that are a part of our school community.

We value the learning that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children bring with them from their homes and communities into the classroom, and we recognise the rich and diverse histories, cultures and languages of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
